About this site

Shareholder perks and money tips in Japan, from real experience.

What kabuman covers

kabuman is a personal blog about shareholder perks (yutai), building assets, hometown tax donations (furusato nozei) and household budgeting. I write from the real experience of my family of five: a couple and three children. I write about stocks I actually held, perks I actually used, and gifts I actually ordered. The focus is what happened when I tried it.

I do not stop at explaining a system. As far as my own experience goes, I write honestly about how much I paid, how much I saved, and what was inconvenient. You can read about me on the author profile page.

The English articles are a selection for English speakers living in Japan. They are written by a Japanese person from my own experience, not from the point of view of a foreign resident.

Editorial policy

How I handle information

I separate my own experience, official information and general explanation. For information that changes easily, such as perk details, interest rates, rules and campaigns, I write the date I checked it in the article and update it when something changes.

About the author

kabuman
I am Japanese and live in Tokyo. I have used shareholder perks for more than ten years, from more than 100 companies.

I run this site on my own, and no company decides what I write. I base my articles on the perk stocks I actually hold and the gifts I actually used.
